Since I dorm, I did not get any financial aid left over for me and that affected me a lot. I did not have enough money for books at all. I was not able to complete a homework assignment because I did not have the book for the class. That 's not how I wanted to start my first semester of college. I wanted to start college strong and without any worries but I guess I am learning the hard way at the moment. Book: Passing. Going back to school I would have to say that going back to school was a hard and challenging decision, but so far it has been a good decision on so many levels. When I was about 14 1 had to drop out of school. But going back to has been great, not only by furthering my education, but because I have gained so much pride and confidence. It has been a long rode but I finally made It and now working toward my success. Dropping out tot school was something I never Imagined. At the age tot 14, two years before graduation I had to drop out of school.
Had to drop out of school for family issues. At the time my family was very unstable, moving from place to place, not really having a place to call home. And the effect of that unstableness was me falling behind in class, not being able to make up work, and always changing schools It was Just too much to handle. So somewhere along the line I Just stopped going to school, not planned and premeditated, I Just stopped. I could never catch up on my work causing me to tail, and when I did get back on track. There was always another move. After getting all the necessary paperwork and transcripts from the various schools I had to attend orientation and take the placement test.
Took my placement test the following week and orientation came behind. I do not like to think of myself as perfect in any way, but when it comes down to it and who I am as a person, I believe I have very good character. How I act around and treat my peers shows this quality. When meeting someone new, I am friendly, easy to get along with, and I believe their opinion is just as valuable as my own. I was unsure of what I wanted and had lost confidence in myself as a student. However, once my friends were beginning to finish college and go out into the real world, I realized I needed to also do what I had alway planned and get my education.
Watching my parents struggle financially and eventually lose their home has made me work hard to provide for myself and to save for my future so that I do not have to struggle that way. After a few years of just working I knew that I needed to make a change. By this time I had already gotten myself a new job with the company I am currently with, and after a few years of hard work and promotions they encouraged me to go back to school. Before college, I had no control over my life because I was always hoping that I can follow others.
However, four years of undergraduate at UB changed me, I have developed my confidence and independent personality. As now, I am very confident to said that I want to be a systems analyst after graduation, and I will stick to my decision. Getting to meet so many new people and have so many new opportunities has been amazing. Since moving here I definitely feel like a happier person. I could finally leave what gave me such stress and anxiety, and move on to what I had always wanted to do, which was go to college. All of the hard work I put in in high school finally paid off more than I thought it would. I wanted a great group of friends that I immediately wanted to connect with during my first few days of college. I also knew that college would be stressful and I would cry many times.
But what I did not expect to happen was to go through major withdraws because I missed my parents and my close relationships back home so much. How have I been impacted by the change here? My future.
